A visitation was held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. The memorial service took place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the same location.

Born on November 16, 1980, in Postville, Iowa, Joey was the son of Roger and Joni (Butikofer) Loftsgard. He graduated from Valley High School in Clermont, Iowa, in 1999 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa.

On November 16, 2019, Joey married Crystal Sokol Gray at Cedar Ridge Winery in Swisher, Iowa. He was a devoted husband and a supportive role model to his children, Parker and Camdyn. Joey enjoyed taking long walks with his doodle, Kona, and was an avid fan of the Hawkeyes, Cubs, and Packers. He loved traveling and exploring new places but always made it home for his children’s sporting events. Known for his friendly nature, Joey never met a stranger and was cherished by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Lois Loftsgard; maternal grandfather, William Butikofer; uncle, Michael Butikofer; and his dog, Nicky.
